Google Chat features a pin chat or pinned chat (embedding messages) that is integrated in the Gmail application.
This feature is rolling out to both eligible users and in general in the next few days.
Gadget Ndtv reported, this pinned conversation will be displayed to the top in Gmail or Google Chat. Users can access it via the navigation menu on the left.
According to Google, this pinned chat feature will help users see an important conversation. With this, users can find these chats faster.
A notification in the form of a red dot will also appear next to the conversation that is embedded in the Gmail account.
The embedded chat feature will be available on Android and iOS devices, and on the Web and will be available to users on the Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise for Education, and Nonprofits customers.
For information, Google Chat is in the process of replacing the classic Hangouts in Gmail. An update has been rolled out, and all eligible users are expected to make the transition in the first half of the coming year.
While Google Chat will retain some Hangout features, such as direct and group messaging, Google said it will ditch some of the other features.
