Google Will Rename Phone Applications on Android

Over the last few weeks, Google has made changes to icons for its applications such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and many more. Google adds more using common colors like (blue, red, yellow and green) to its app icons.

Reported gto5mac, Reddit users have spotted what appears to be a new icon and name for the app currently known as Phone by Google. The leaked icon and name were seen in an advertisement found on Youtube.

Based on the advertisement, the app’s new name is Google Call, and the icon resembles the illustration on the new Google Voice icon. One major difference is that the ear and landline illustrations are rendered in four Google colors.

It should be noted, however, that the new name and icon have not been used in the Google Play Store and when the changes will be made is anyone’s guess. The current icon shows a white handline hand and funnel on a blue background.

In the description in the ad, the company highlights the caller ID feature which is better than the previous version of the application.

Not only that, Google has also added a new feature to the application, including Hold for Me.

Relying on Google Duplex technology, Google’s phone application will be able to detect differences when the user is waiting for a dial tone with the real person.
