And also like hard drives, it&#8217;s not a matter of &#8216;if&#8217;, but rather a matter of &#8216;when&#8217; and &#8216;why&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Inside a computer, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/matob.web.id\/news\/choose-good-power-supply-unit\/\">PSU<\/a>\u00a0is a device that converts alternative electricity (power from your outlet, usually 110V) to direct current to the components inside the case.\u00a0Looking from the outside, it&#8217;s a three-prong plug that plugs into your socket.\u00a0Laptops are pretty much the same, except external: blocks and cables that attach to the back and plug into the wall.<\/p>\n<p>Every power supply is different.\u00a0Some (typically for laptops) may have a low output of 65 watts, while others may produce 1,000 watts or more.\u00a0Some only have 10 amps, while others produce 65 amps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why is the Power Supply Broken?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/matob.web.id\/news\/sign-of-the-power-supply-is-damaged\/\">Damage to the power supply <\/a>can just happen.\u00a0The malfunction could be triggered by something you have done but sometimes, the\u00a0PSU\u00a0is just about time to crash.\u00a0Below is a list of common factors why\u00a0a\u00a0computer&#8217;s\u00a0PSU\u00a0breaks down:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lifespan<\/strong>\u00a0: Most warranties last from 5-10 years, but that&#8217;s not a guarantee.\u00a0Its life also depends on how often you use your computer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Electrical Disturbances<\/strong>\u00a0(lightning, power surges, etc.).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dirt \/ Foreign Substances<\/strong>\u00a0(cigarette smoke, house dust, etc.).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brown-Out<\/strong>\u00a0: Intentional or accidental drop in voltage.\u00a0For example, it occurs because it is carried out by PLN to stabilize the electricity network or during an emergency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Overheating<\/strong>\u00a0and\/or Ventilation Failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most common reasons are overheating and power failure.\u00a0However, if you are a smoker or the computer is in a dusty environment, you are likely to replace the\u00a0PSU\u00a0sooner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Sign of a broken power supply \/PSU\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When the\u00a0PSU is\u00a0no longer providing the power your computer needs, things start to get\u00a0<em>messy.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0Here are some signs of a faulty power supply:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0 Strange Sound Appears<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strange noises will be heard from the back of the computer case where the PSU cable is located.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Computer won&#8217;t turn on<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When the computer is turned on, nothing happens.\u00a0Sometimes this may coincide with a flashing light on the front of the computer or an indicator on the back of the PSU (if available).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Computer turns on for a while then turns off<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The computer turns on for a few seconds and then shuts down immediately.\u00a0While this could be a power supply problem, it may also indicate a fault with the <a href=\"https:\/\/matob.web.id\/news\/what-is-the-function-of-the-motherboard\/\">motherboard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.
